We are chatting on IRC. To chat on IRC you need to download a program (client). There are many programs that you can use but if you have Windows and are new to IRC I'm recommending Icechat. Icechat is easy to use and its free. Most of us are using Icechat and it has cute graphics. If you are using a Mac you can use Icrle. We are keeping a schedule so those times there should be someone there. The room is always open so you can just drop in at other times too.
Times for days chats are 1pm EST Monday and Thursday.
Times for nights chats are 10pm EST Tuesday and Friday
If you are new to IRC get started by going to www.icechat.net. Click on dowloads and download "Full IceChat." Install the program. Now just 4 steps! Open it and you will be prompted for a nickname. Next is picking a server. Change the default irc.quakenet.org to irc.chatlands.org. When icechat is open irc.chatlands.org should be listed first in the "Favorite Server List" on the lower right. Double click....once connected type /join #tonsofkids. You will be in our channel. You can add #tonsofkids to autojoin so next time you can just click on the connect button to get to our channel.
If you have Icechat open and you are not connected to Chatlands type /server irc.chatlands.org . To get to our room (channel) type /join #tonsofkids (the typing is done in the usual place you would type to chat. It needs to be exactly the way mentioned. Extra spaces or missing spaces will cause it not to work) and press enter. The new window that will open is ours!
If you are using another IRC client the server is random, the address is irc.chatlands.org and the port is 6667. Our channel is #tonsofkids.
The room is open at all times, so people can go in outside of regular chat times and see whether anybody is there. Sometimes there will, sometimes there will not. There always will be some one at regular chat times. But you might be lucky and find somebody there at other times too. If you minimize Icechat it will blink if there is any activity!
