Parc Safari!

at Parc Safari

Earlier this summerReg won tickets to Parc Safari. It's a zoo. You drive around one part and feed the "safari" animals from your car window. He had won a "family" pass, only 2 kids and 2 adults. It's pretty pricey, we are tight on money and we already spent our amusement park money this year. Chloe offered to pick up the tickets. She asked for a second pass since she was one of 9 kids at home and they gave her another family pass! We often get extra movie passes but I'm not surprised by those. We go 15 min before quitting time the day of the movie. If the passes aren't given out they just go in the garbage.

C feeding ZWe had fun. The weather was beautiful. The season was almost over so the park was almost deserted. Margo kept saying that the Safari part was like a traffic jam with animals. Usually there are so many cars you end up waiting a lot. Not this time. We brought baby carrots, apples and rabbit food. Unfortunately only the front windows of the van open so it got pretty squishy lol.

deer

After the car ride we walked to the deer trail. The deer are small European Fallow deer. They are very cute and like to be fed. There was only 58 on the trail but it seemed like a lot more.
deerSome greeted us as soon as we were in the gate.
deerI put Tia in the sling because she wasn't impressed with having so many deer in her face.
deer Chloe was holding the bag of food so they followed her, lol.

We went back to the van and got out lunch. I liked that about the park. The parking is in the site and is surrounded by picnic tables. Price of parking is included and they don't discourage you from bringing your own food.
lionAfter eating we headed over to the big cat exhibit. They have a lion tunnel. I always wanted to see what a flatten lion belly looked like ;-)
monkey trailWe ended up going on the raised monkey trail backwards but we easily passed the few people going in the right direction. That was one thing I didn't like. The trail starts were badly marked and the map was almost useless. It wasn't crowded so it didn't matter much.
playgroundThe kids played in the playground for a while. This was my least favorite park of the day. The playground isn't big but there are walls everywhere blocking the view so it was hard to keep an eye on everyone. They wanted the kids to remove their shoes but it was pretty muddy/sandy. We didn't stay long lol.playground

Tia is One!

How did that happen? In some ways it feels like she has been around forever and in some ways she is a tiny baby. Well, tiny is not a good word. She is one of my biggest for age babies. She is different though. She has a large head and is a bit shorter. She proportional to a 6 mos old but much bigger. She is one of my slower babies developmentally. I'm not complaining at all. She is wonderful just as she is. Also not finding the toilet early is good, right?

t with cake Margo designed and decorated Tia's cake. I mentioned wanting to make a pink elephant cake. Tia's favorite cuddly stuffed toy is an elephant named Ella. I wanted pink because it's girlie and also funny. Margo offered to draw a picture. She drew a few since I was picky lol. Reg and I baked the usual 20 bowl cake. I cut the cake using Margo's drawing and Margo iced it.

ballpit We bought Brother Bear for Tia a few weeks before her bday. We went to WM to find something else. We found some cute blocks then I saw a ball pit. It's an ongoing joke between Reg and I. I want to buy a ball pit and he doesn't. Well this ballpit was cheap, 10 CAD, and Reg thought it would solve the ball pit problem. T in ballpit We thought it would last 1 day since it was inflatable but would be fun for a bday. It lasted 6 and Reg was sad to see it go lol. Now I have 100 homeless ball pit balls.

Tia was not impressed and stayed away from the pit for hours. The other kids had fun. There was lots of noise and action. After they went to bed I put Tia in the pit. Well, at least she wasn't scared anymore.

She did have fun a couple days later making ball pit soup

Tia, home from work

and too cute to not pick up:

Tia too cute to not pick up I had surgery 2 weeks ago for gallstones. I'm not suppose to pick up anything over 5 lbs. Reg started taking Tia to work since it was very frustrating for both of us.

Tia's Monkey Feet

One day I mentioned to Kim that Tia would hold toys with her feet. I tried to take a pic to show but the toy was too small and she had a grumpy expression on her face. Tonight I was trying to take a pic of her trying to move forward for Christi but she would stop and wasn't looking in the right direction anyway. Suddenly she rolled over and grabbed a toy. She was holding it with her feet and smiling. What luck! So there ya go Kim.

Jamie's Birthday

GC controller cakeTuesday was Jamie's bday. He is 9 now. At least most of the cooking was done the day before. He had cheesecake for breakfast, pies for lunch, and burgers for siupper. He would have asked for sticky buns for supper but we put a limit on 2 dessert meals per day lol. I only needed to bake buns and decorate the cake. He asked for a GameCube controller.

Margo's Gingerbread House

While at the library I saw a book call Gingerbread Houses for all Seasons so I took it out. I have always liked gingerbread houses but lately the cmas season is so fast and busy I don't even want to think of GBH's. Margo also likes them and this is her first attempt at one. I think it turned out great. She thought it was a bit messy till she saw my first attemps. LOLMargo GBH

Tia's Last EBM Bottle

Last ebm bottleI'm Canadian so it was just a regular Sunday. The night before I had melted the last 2 bags of frozen breast milk. I had stopped pumping 3 months earlier so there wasn't going to be anymore. I was worried about how I would feel when the milk ran out. I was very happy that the milk lasted till she was 9 mos but I felt really sad too. Guess like regular weaning except it was very abrupt and no choice. This is a pic of her having her last bottle. Her next bottle was formula. She frowned a bit then drank it. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad about that lol
