Rachel's 4th Birthday
Rachel's birthday was Feb 13th. I really wanted to have birthdays on time this year since last year we ended up not having a cake for some of the kids till 7 mos after their birthdays. I ordered a neat Duplo home and thought it would make a great gift for Rachel. I had it sent to my friend Karen's since she lives in the States. Reg was working a double on Rachel's birthday anyway so we just didn't tell her. I'm not crazy about telling lies to the kids but it saved her from getting dissapointed. I had ordered lots of stuff from online sales and from ebay. It was piling up in Karen's basement. Normally I don't go on trips with all the kids by myself but to bring back the stuff across the boarder I need some extra bodies to help declare it. All the kids like visiting Karen's. It's a 4.5 hour drive but they watched videos in the car so we didn't even stop once. We had a nice visit. Karen and I got to talk in real life instead of typing litle messages! The kids played well even after 2 days with not enough sleep. They all thought Karen's new baby, Erik, was very cute. Colin (11 mos) didn't seem at all jealous while I held Erik. He even nursed with Erik sitting on him. The day after getting home I told Rachel it was her birthday. LOL. I iced a cake that was waiting in the freezer and wrapped her presents.
