This was a favorite from my childhood.
Chili
Soak (or use 2 lbs cooked ground beef):
2 cups TVP
2 cups boiling water
1 Tbs beef stock powder
Sauté:
1 large onion, diced
1 clove garlic
When the onion is soft mash the garlic.
Add:
2 cans tomatoes
1 can white kidney beans (drain the beans but not very well)
1 can red kidney beans
1 can Romano or pinto beans
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 Tbs chili powder
TVP or ground beef
Simmer for 1 hour
