I made Monkey Bread and enjoyed the balls on the top with their toasty buttery crust or the bottom with their gooey sweetness but not the boring middle ones. I decided to make it in 2 shallow pans so each ball would end up with a special top and bottom.
Monkey Balls
Place in bread bowl in order:
2 cups water
1 Tbs yeast
5-6 cups flour
2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbs oil
2 Tbs skim milk powder
1/2 cup raisins
Knead and let rise 75 minutes. Cut dough into 96 pieces. Shape into balls
Melt (divide in 2 small bowls):
8 oz margarine
Mix (divide in another 2 bowls):
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Roll balls in margarine. Coat with sugar mix, place in a single layer (6x8) in 2 greased 9x13's. Using 2 sets of bowls helps to make the balls even in each pan. Add any left over coating. Rise about 30 min then bake 28 min at 350ºF.
