As a child my mother used to occasionally buy onion buns at the grocery store. I thought they were a treat. Over the years I've tried making my own without success. The onions on the outside would burn and taste awful or the soup mix I used gave the buns a nasty flavor. After making a garlic bread that used microwaved garlic in the dough I thought I'd try it with onions. Yum! The microwaved onion pieces don't get an awful burnt taste when placed on the outside. The egg dough tastes is perfect with the onions. These are probably much better than those grocery store buns but they bring back that treat taste perfectly. Onion Buns
