Late one night at chat I realized that I forgot the raisin bread dough I was making for my easy breakfast the next morning. One of my Dutch friends suggested deep frying the dough in the morning. I was skeptical but needed something. Wow! They were amazing and quickly became a family favorite! They are not true Ollie Bollen since they are kneaded and shaped but they are yummy!
Raisin Bread and Ollie Bollen

Place in order in bread bowl:
3 1/3 cups water
1 Tbs yeast
9 cups flour
1 Tbs cinnamon
1 Tbs salt
2 to 3 cups raisins (lower amount for Ollie Bollen)
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup oil
3 Tbs skim milk powder

Mix and knead like regular bread dough. Let rise 75 min. Deflate.

Raisin Bread

Divide dough into 3. Shape, rise, and bake like regular bread dough.

Ollie Bollen

Divide dough into 3 then 24 (72 pieces). Knead each piece into a ball. Deep fry until nicely browned. My old large deep fryers could do 12 at a time. My newer one I squeeze 18 in. Drain the balls then coat with powdered sugar.
